Considering a move to the valley, finding jobs

Dear Joan,

We have  owned a small condo in Vail for many years and have enjoyed it winter and summer
.
I had never thought of moving here
 but now
my husband has gotten the wild idea to sell the condo, sell our house at home and get a single family or duplex home here in the valley and stay here year round!  I guess I am not so distressed at the thought of living in this beautiful place full time as I am of the thought of him quitting his great job and trying to start over in his late 50's.  I have heard good jobs are very limited in this Valley. Is that true?

Dear Worried,

When my husband and I first moved here we were younger, but also  owned a  small condo where we had tons of fun with our fiends and neighbors when we came to
visit in
Vail.  Eventually my husband said  " There are people who live here year round and make a nice living.  Are they smarter than we are?"  So soon after that, he became a "corporate dropout" and we moved to the Valley full time and have never looked back.  In your case, with all the  multifaceted  technology we now have, many people are moving here and keeping there jobs
and working through
telecommunications.  We also now have the wonderful ability to fly almost any where in the world with just one stop from our fabulously convenient Eagle County Regional Airport.  And, we are on the I-70 corridor that will get you to the Denver International Airport in just a little over 2 hours ( as long as you don't go at peak travel times).

To answer your question about availability of good jobs in Eagle County, I would like to qualify the words "jobs" and "good".  There are always "jobs" but more importantly there are opportunities for careers and entrepreneurial creations where you can own your own business.  I personally love selling real estate and I am with the largest franchise in the world, but I own my own business under their umbrella...and the sky is the limit on what I can earn.
it is all about the time and effort I put for in my profession.
Many entrepreneurs in this Valley have started their own construction companies, excavating companies, opened retail businesses and wholesale stores, etc.  The warm culture of this Valley welcomes new innovative ideas.  You may be pleasantly surprised about  how this chapter of your life turns out!  Don't forget to choose a competent, knowledgeable Realtor to help you make a smooth and economically viable housing transition
if and when you sell your condo and buy your future home
 This could be very exciting.
